Funding enquiry

I am currently on my second year of university but wanting a career change to marine biology. Is this an exception degree and would I to get funding for marine biology as a second degree as it would be a shame to drop out of something I have almost finished. If so, would this have to be part time as I was hoping to do an integrated masters degree.

Hi there,

Including your current year, do you have 2 years of previous study in total?

Thanks, Graeme

Thanks - Marine Biology isn't a full-time exception, but it can sometime be an exception when studied part-time.

So, if you finish this course and get the degree you may be able to study part-time and receive funding that way.

If you have a particular Marine Biology course in mind let us know and we'll check to see if it's a part-time exception.

Thanks, Graeme

Thank you for your response! I appreciate the advice!

My first choice was the Marine biology and Zoology as one whole course in Bangor but unfortunately they do not offer the part time study.

Would Zoology also count as an exception on a part time basis or do I need to be looking at marine biology/environmental only? I’m trying to weigh my options as both fields strike a real interest

To be classed as a part-time exception the course needs to fall under one of these categories. Feel free to tell us the full course details for the Zoology course and we'll take a look.

These are the categories, just so you can see them.

Hi sunny-lifespan,

Zoology isn't a course which is on the exception list therefore this would not be funded as a second degree.

The second course would be an eligible course, however it is only an exception studied part time.

Thanks, Clare
