Possible to get2:1

Hello, I just got my 2nd year result back and only managed to get low 2:2 around 51%. Is it possible for me to get 2:1 by the end of 3rd year I need like 62-63% for borderline 2:1. It’s for accounting degree. Just wondering if it’s still doable. I have really lost hope and feels like I have messed up my future.

Mathematically, it's certainly possible.

Do you have feedback from each assessment yet? Do you understand where things went wrong and what to improve? If so, then you have every opportunity to turn things around in third year.
Yes I have talked with the programme director and willing to put an effort from day one practising every single type of questions. It’s just I need confident which I am lacking. It’s either continuing 3rd year but I will have a constant fear of not getting my target grade or changing the degree from 1st year which means 2 years loss.

Fear of failure is often a powerful emotion, but it would seem like madness to discard two years worth of work and start again doing a different degree - not having any idea if you'd fare any better on that course. Student finance is also likely to be an issue.

You say you achieved around 51% for second year overall - was there a fairly wide range of marks, with some low ones, but some reaching (or exceeding) the 62-63% you've worked out you need to average during third year? If so, focus on those modules you did well in and try to establish what you did differently in those modules which helped you get better marks.

Also, heed whatever advice your Programme Director gave you. Did they think you were capable of turning things around? If so, then you should believe you can too.
Hi yes. I had a talk with programme director she told me I can definitely turn around just need to learn then exam technique properly. Hopefully I can make this work. I still highly doubt my ability but what would u recommend or advice i should be doing for accounting modules. And do you have any tips for dissertation or coursework cause I really need to achieve high on this to do good. Thank you !

Hi there,

This is definitely possible with the right motivation and support. I'd recommend talking to your academic tutor and relevant lecturers/ course leaders to come up with a plan and ways to improve.

Have faith that you can figure it out and be interested in your course and I'm sure it will be fine!

All the best,
