Physics work experience

Hi, right now I am in year 12 and about to go on summer holiday in 2 weeks and I am trying to find some work experience for Physics but I can't find any that isn't already closed. I have realised I should've started looking ages ago but does anyone know of any opportunities for physics work experience?

Physics is an academic subject so you don't need work experience. It would be better to read books or magazines (eg New Scientist) that cover your interests and/or complete some online MOOCs. Search the Oxford and Cambridge websites for suggested reading for prospective students (even if you don't intend to apply for Oxbridge).

Hi,
As mentioned already, don't worry too much if you do not have any specific physics-related work experience as universities are aware that it is hard to find such placements and experiences as an A-level student.
I just wanted to add that short courses are another good option to show your enthusiasm for your subject. Future Learn can be a good place to look https://www.futurelearn.com/courses?https://www.futurelearn.com/courses?filter_category=14&filter_course_type=unlimited
You could also try keeping up to date with recent developments in the specific areas of physics that you're interested in and try and understand the science behind them. There may also be online physics and maths challenges that you can participate in.
Hope this helps,
Becky (Lancaster University student ambassador)
