Second year at college, need some advice about courses

I am getting incredibly stressed with my history Alevel course (how it is taught, the head of department is not nice ect) and I has gotten to the point I really don’t want to carry on. I really want to do a 1 year medical science course (I feel over all this will be best for my mental health). My family say I shouldn’t as it will be a waist of a year. I don’t know what to do any advice would be great, thank you

The medical science course is a BTEC medical science. I also do psychology and sociology. I plan to do a combined degree in university of psychology and sociology
