Can I get into LSE

I have most likely got 6s and 7s at gcse and really want to go to LSE to do economics after a levels

Which A levels would be recommended as I think I’d like to do maths economics and biology but I’m not dead set on them and would be open to suggestions for better a levels to do the course at uni

Also should I start revising now to resit my GCSEs as of course LSE would rather me have higher grades or should I not resit

Have you checked LSE's requirements for economics?

Maths is absolutely essential for economics at LSE, further maths is highly recommended if your school offers it. Other than that recommended subjects for LSE Economics listed on their website are Economics, Physics, History, Chemistry, English, and Government and Politics, of which Economics, History, English and Government and Politics are good indicators of writing ability.
Maths and Economics is a strong combination and if you enjoy Bio (even though it’s not listed as preferred) and believe you can get a good grade then go for it!
LSE do consider GCSE grades, the overall profile and as a minimum they want a 6 in both English lang and Maths. They need several grades 8/9 in your GCSE profile so if you’re unlikely to achieve this and absolutely set on LSE it might be worth retaking a few- maybe Maths and Biology if you’re taking them for a level and a few others. What subjects do you take now and what grades do you think youll achieve? Several to me means probably more than 2 and another page I read said they wanted a majority of grades to be 7 or above- are you likely to achieve this?

I’m likely to get mabye max 3 7’s and I really regret not working much harder so I feel like a resit will be good

I’ve read on LSEs website that they very much prefer grades to have been achieved first time and with all exams taken in one season.

unfortunately for LSE economics it is very highly unlikely to get an offer unless you have mostly 8s and 9s. in addition, without further maths at least to AS level you don’t have a chance really.

‘As competition for places at LSE is intense, we look for applicants who have achieved highly at GCSE (multiple A or A*/8-9 grades), particularly within the context of their school.’ is stated on the website.

other degree at lse are less competitive, so you could aim for those instead. there are lots of other good unis for economics too, so don’t obsess over one university.

LSE single honours economics requires you take A-level FM if your school offers it. You should be planning to take this if aiming to apply there.

I wouldn't bother resitting GCSEs honestly...

Controversial take, which I'm not going to recommend, but at least you know it could be an option (no guarantees though!) There are some people who get to LSE for a degree which has lower requirements. They study hard to ensure they achieve a first and then switch courses e.g. to Econ. I know someone who did this. As a result, they did have to redo a whole year, but they went on to Goldman in true LSE style.
