what are the best uk unis for biomedical sciences?

i'm looking for some good unis to study biomedical sciences that exclude the high achieving unis but are still reputable (one with lower entry requirements around BBB)

Those with Med Schools will tend to have the biggest Medical Science departments, but you need to go to Uni Open Days and make this choice yourself. For the ABB course below you would probably get an offer with BBB.
BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science - University of Plymouth
Biomedical Sciences BSc (Hons) | University of Dundee, UK
Biomedical Science BSc : University of Sussex

If you want to be a biomedical scientist make sure the degree is ibms accredited

Hi there 👋

That's great that you're looking to study biomedical science! There are many reputable universities across the UK that offer this course. Are you thinking of commuting to a university near you, or moving away for uni?

Start off by doing plenty of research into each one you're interested in, including finding out about what the lab facilities are like, what the modules are, the different ways that you'd learn, how you'd be assessed, as well as the entry requirements.

I'd also recommend that you go and visit an open day so you can experience the campus, chat to the lecturers, and see for yourself what the facilities are like and where you might be be learning.

Have you considered studying at Teesside University? If you choose to study BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science here, you'll learn in our new state-of-the-art lab facilities in our BIOS building, and could gain valuable experience at our purpose-built biosciences research facility at the National Horizons Centre.

The main thing is making sure you do plenty of research and choosing the uni that is right for you and the course you want to study.

Best of luck in your decision and starting university!

Hi @nothoughts

Lancaster University has Biomedical Science and Biomedical BSc courses that are reputable and from my experience very good. The grade requirements are ABB however the grade requirements I needed were reduced to a BBC through the Lancaster Access Programme which provides contextual offers and other really helpful uni preparation for those eligible. I'd definitely recommend seeing if you would be eligible, you can find out more here: https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/schools-and-colleges/lap/

Hope this helps!

In the latest NSS survey, the iBMS accredited biomedical science course at Bangor University achieved 100% student satisfaction.
The grade requirements fit what you're looking for as well. There's an open day coming up - I'd definitely recommend making the visit.
Hey there!

LJMU offers a BSc Biomedical Sciences, which is accredited by IBMS. We also offer a BSc Applied Biomedical Sciences, which gives you regular NHS lab practice throughout your degree. The accreditation means that the modules on this course are in accordance with the IBMS requirements for a Biomedical Science qualification, and you can also join the Institute as an eStudent and have access to their resources!

I would greatly recommend looking into this as our entry requirements are BBC-ABB (112-128 UCAS points).

BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science | Undergraduate course | Liverpool John Moores University

Thanks,
Jorja (LJMU Student Rep)
