Hi @susiebeaton

When you start year 10, you probably want to be focusing more on your GCSEs and putting in some more work to the make the most of your time.

But I would always suggest keeping a balanced social life as best you can. Maybe you work to keep your weekends free for friends and family, join a sports club, or make sure you have time to relax and do the things you enjoy. As you work through the year, you'll probably find stages where you have more time and times where you have a more relaxed schedule.

So all in all, make sure you're keeping up some level of a social life to keep your spirits up while you're studying.

All the best. 🙂

I would say the same as before! The very start of GCSEs doesn’t impact at all - as long as you’re listening in class. Depending on how well you learn, I wouldn’t say you need to start fully revising until February/March time. Even when you’re revising I’d actually say to make time for your social life - you’ll deserve a break sometimes!

Honestly I didn't do any revision until Christmas Y11 and got all above 7, mostly 8s and 9s, doing like 3-5 hours of revision a week you should def be able to get whatever grades you want. I'd probably do whatever you want socially and just fit revision around that when you can, but if you do your homework, make good notes in your lessons and revise for any tests the teachers give you you'll be alright (I do wish I'd made revision cards as I went along though, but it'll probably take you no time to do that since I could do the whole subject in one go in like 6 hours)

Hey Susie!

Having a break and time away from studying is really healthy and almost makes you more productive in the long run! I would say (from my experience in Yr10) is that you can have the majority of the weekends to do whatever you like, as long as you are on top of all of your homework!

If there are any subjects that are 'weaker' for you and you're wanting to revise early, I would start there!

I hope this helps,
