Are my GCSEs good enough for Cambridge?

During my GCSE period, loads of **** happened. Family member close to me passed away, and a divorce.

I didn't do very well, I got 988877766, and I wanted to know whether these grades would hold me back, even though there was a lot going on.

I'm currently predicted A*A*AA, and I'm looking at applying to Land Economy at Clare College.

I just wanted any advice on whether or not my GCSEs are good enough, and if it's worth applying to Cambridge.
You wouldn't get into cambridge with those grades unless they offered you a scholarship. Consider work experience in such fields part time.

if you have proof of contextual information, which I think you probably do, you can ask someone at school to add a note to your application, and then the grades definitely should not hold you back as long as you can explain to them why the grades were not as good as they could be.

During my GCSEs, I experienced significant personal challenges, including a family bereavement and a family separation. While my grades weren't ideal (grades can be mentioned if comfortable), my predicted AAAAs at A-Level demonstrate significant improvement. Considering this, papa's games would my GCSEs significantly hinder my application for Land Economy at
Clare College Cambridge?

I can’t speak for other courses (I applied for philosophy) but in my experience less than perfect GCSE grades shouldn’t stop you from getting a place. I went to a pretty bad school so they take that into account contextually when looking at your GCSEs but I got 9 9 9 8-8 8 7 5 5 and got an offer. They tend to take your a levels as well as personal statement, test and interview more seriously so don’t let that stop you from applying

Also those are still very good grades - especially considering your circumstances - I went through similar during my alevels :frown: again the standards may be different for stem vs humanities so it’s hard to give advice
