I was a nervous wreck in my design college interview for a university.

Okay so, today i had an interview for Bachelors of Design in a University. Though online, i was nervous as hell and i feel like i messed it up. I stuttered and yapped nonsense for 2-3 questions but i believe my portfolio wasn't that bad. Except those 2-3 questions, i answered others well, i believe. Did any of you have similar experience? If yes, did you get accepted despite being nervous?

I recently discovered an innovative course that seamlessly integrates theory with practical projects. This unique approach welcomes both beginners and experienced designers without the pressure of exams, focusing on developing practical UI/UX design skills. For more information, visit the Payhip platform and add "/designacademy1" after the slash in the website's URL.

Interviews for creative courses aren't like job interviews. Primarily, they'll be looking at your portfolio. They'll also be checking that you aren't an idiot and that you have the right kind of attitude. They'll also be selling the course to you.

It's completely normal to be nervous, so stumbling on some questions is absolutely fine. Staff can see through nerves. If you don't get a place, it almost certainly won't be because of your interview performance.

Hello, Coventry University Student Ambassador here!👋

I had a few university interviews while applying right after college. Because I was very young, I stuttered and rambled on way too much, however, the interview that I actually felt did not go well due to my nervousness, was actually the one that I had the most success in. It only lasted for 10 minutes (which I found out later that was good, since the interviewer made up his mind quite quick about me), and it was really about my past performance which they determined that I would do well in university by, why I chose the degree, and if I'm enthusiastic and passionate about it.

Ultimately, the way I talked didn't deter the university from offering me a place, it is about what you say, and how you convey ideas, what you come off as, and what performance you can show for yourself (such as your portfolio).

Hope this helps in reassuring you a bit in regards to your interview, and not losing hope!
Bianca
