You’re not eligible for some aspects of student finance

Hi, so I completed my first year of Uni and dropped out mid way into my second year, I'm returning this year and I get this message from SFE

"As you are studying for a qualification that is equivalent to or lower than a qualification you already have, you’re not eligible for some aspects of student finance. You won’t be eligible to receive Fee Support, Maintenance Loan, Maintenance Grant or Special Support Grant while studying on your new course."

I'm not studying for something that is Equivalent as I will be earning a foundation degree after completing my second year is this an error?

This usually indicates that you incorrectly listed your previous study as awarded a degree instead of a certHE.

You’ll need to provide evidence that your previous study awarded a lower qualification than the one you hope to start. If you have official documentation (a transcript and exit award certificate) then upload that to your account with a cover letter explaining that you are appealing for reconsideration based on not studying an ELQ

Your previous study does mean that you will be ineligible for a tuition fee loan for year 1 of a new degree, but you should get a maintenance loan

Hi LiamRob,

It sounds like you may have indicated that you hold an equal level qualification in error.

It would be best to upload a cover letter to explain the level you do currently hold, along with any university transcripts or documents that confirm this.
