Loreto college manchester experiences?

I have a place either here or xaverian. Leaning towards loreto as i live near so i dont have to take the bus. I have a few questions
-how is the teaching
- does it have good support for law/med/ wanting to go RG uni
-good career counselling?
- does it have good people/vibes?
-does it have good events /opportunities?

Please tell me about your overall experience of loreto

Hello, I am a student at xav, will be starting y13 this september. Currently considering to persue a career in medicine, the school is supportive for med, dentisry and vet applicants, they have a program called MDV for students considering doing med, dentistry or medicine. They hold weekly discussions in MDV (most of the time) kind of like a PBL, where groups of 3-4 discuss a specific task, sometimes bring visitors to talk about their experiences as med student. However you need to achieve at least B or above in all your subjects to stay on the program, you have the opportunity to get back into program later on after you get your grades. I can provide more info on the MDV program if you are interested.

There is a career counseling, i havent spoken to them so idk if its really usefull. you can always speak to your pastoral manager regarding careers they are really nice and helpfull.

Obv there are nice friendly ppl overall from what ive seen, ive never had any negative interactions w anyone in school so far, everyone is pretty chill overall. However it might depend on your class or your env lol.

It has good opportunities, lots of clubs spreaded thru the weekdays during break times, from sports to knitting.
Lots of events thru the term, eg fundraising, trips, tournaments, uni days etc.

Id highly reccomend speaking to former xav and loretto students when making a decision, as each experience is unique.

At the start of year 11 we had a mock which determined our predicted grades for application also considering overall performance in year 10. You submit your predicted grades with personal statements.

My predicted grades were higher than my actual GCSEs lol, I was predicted- Maths 7, Combined Science 88, English 66, Turkish 9, Geography 7, DT7 and French Foundation 4.

I have applied to following..

Loretto

Xaverian College

Parrswood

Didsbury 6th form

Connel
Those are all I can remember, I had recieved offer from all except Loretto which did not state why they did not offer me a place. I had an interviews for Connel , Parrswood and Didsbury, which was straight forwards they just offered me a contextual offer.

There is nothing to be afraid of when it comes to interviews, they just go over your predicted grades and personal statement and offer you a place basically.

I would recomend looking at the entry requrements for the subjects you want to do at college/sixth form.

Your grades are really strong considering you have 8s 7s 6s in english.

Let me know if you have any more qs

No worries. If you want to boost the predicted grades your teachers will be using, Id reccomend arranging one to one with them, rather than confronting your teachers you can say you understand their perspective and make a point on your class work, if they say no make an offer; tell your teacher to do an exam from past papers under exam condition and if you get good ask them to increase your grade.
