Student Finance repayments after one year of a degree

Hoping to start a new degree at a new university this September. However, I am currently at another university, due to terminate my studies soon and transfer universities (via UCAS Clearing) to start my new course. I have completed one year of my current course in 2023 and I have taken the year out to re-sit A-Levels, gain some work experience and volunteering necessary for my course.

I am worried that because I completed a year of a course at a different university that I will have to pay the nearly £20,000 back whilst I study for my new degree at a different university (which I am unable to afford right now and don't really want to take another year out...). I know that I will be eligible for funding for my new degree but I'm hoping that I will be able to start paying off my first course when I hopefully graduate in 2027 rather than now. Can somebody advise me on this? Thank you!

Hi andrew_b43,

For this query we will need you to contact our repayments department but they are not available on here. If you prefer to communicate to them via chat then you can message them on Twitter https://twitter.com/messages/compose?recipient_id=806835849916719104 or Facebook http://m.me/SLCRepayment - alternatively they are also available on the phone, their number is 0300 100 0611.

Thanks, Clare
