Reference letter for homeschooled American?

Am I correct in understanding that the changes made for the 2024 application for an independent applicant are only "Provide an overview of your relationship with the applicant." And then optional spaces of extenuating circumstances and predicted grades? The examples for Independent The two examples they give for question one barely gives any information, it's literally like I know the student and this is how. Is that all referees are really writing? I am a homeschooled American and my referee is not at all familiar with UCAS so I need to help her understand what type of information she should include.

The examples on the UCAS website are:
"I have known Akemi from XXXX to XXXX in my capacity as theatre anaesthetic and recovery lead and hospital resuscitation lead practitioner at the XX Royal Hospital. Akemi joined the Community Team for Learning Disabilities (CTLD) from January May 20XX for her exposure to learning disabilities placement as part of her Trainee Nursing Associate training."

"I am the store manager of Next in XX and have held my position there for the last five years. I employed Kim and have known her in this professional setting for the last four years, and I must say it has been an absolute pleasure to have her as part of my team."

It must be an academic reference from someone who has taught you - not an employer or family friend.

UCAS told me that:
“The referee can be an employer, a tutor or a professional who knows the applicant well enough to comment on their suitability to study.

You will find that Unis will want an academic reference - regardless of what UCAS says - and if you cant provide this, you should email each of the Unis you intend to apply to and ask for their advice before you apply.

Thanks. I’ll use a different reference to make it easier.
