home fees eligibility

Hi there,

I am currently not eligible for home student fees. However, by the year I intend to start my studies, I will be able to draw Student Finance loans. Should I apply for home student fees now for the intended year, or should I wait until I am eligible and then apply to universities and for SF?

Thank you!
You would be best to apply for student finance when you are eligible for "home" fees, especially as you are looking at applying to University in the next year - JD

You don't really apply for home fee status - the unis that you apply to assess your status regardless of what option you put on your application.

They can usually reassess it up until the point at which you enrol, so if you believe you will meet Home criteria before the course starts you may as well apply within the normal calendar, (IE. by Jan 31st in the year you want to join).

Hiya, Thank you so much! do you know how long until the start of the course I can ask for a reconsideration of my fee status?
You are best to contact the University you are interested in directly for these details - JD

As above, it's up to the specific uni involved. In most cases it could be done any time prior to enrolling, which itself is typically around a month ahead of the course start date. But obviously they will be very busy around that time, so the earlier you start the process, the better.

Hello there!
I was in the same position as you last year and as far as I know you can only apply once you are eligible. I hope that helps!
