Contextual offers are given if you meet certain criteria. They're designed to 'level the playing field' for applicants who may be disadvantaged because of the circumstances surrounding them. Different unis have different policies for who is eligible for them. If you're eligible, you will automatically be offered a contextual offer.

Of course, most people apply with predicted grades, so it would be a conditional contextual offer.

Have a look at a few university websites to see.

Different universities have different contextual schemes. Even within a university, different departments can run different schemes. Best to look at the specific course at the unis you want to apply to and read the fine print on contextual offers. Some schools have guidance officers who can help you navigate through these offers if you qualify. Try speaking to school about who might be able to advice you on contextual offers and do some specific research for what and where you want to apply to.

When you would get a standard conditional offer, you receive a contextual offer.
For example, I received a contextual offer from Bath through UCAS which gave me instructions to complete a short online course about university to lower my required grades.

It won’t always be clear that you got a contextual offer. I had a one grade lower requirement for Imperial than everyone else I talked to, which was probably contextual but I was not told explicitly.

Universities use info already on your UCAS application - postcode, FSM, school name, or whatever their criteria is - you do not have to tell them anything or do anything else.
