Is it possible to prepare for two admission tests?

I want to apply for Mathematics and Philosophy at Oxford and Warwick, but for 2025 applicants they don't share an admission test. So I would have to prepare for TMUA/STEP in addition to the MAT. Is there enough shared content that this would be reasonable, i.e preparing for the MAT would help with TMUA? Are there any other 2025 applicants worrying about this? Thanks

Do you have a link for the warwick course entry requirements?

IIRC, TMUA/MAT questions differs in style, but content-wise they're practically the same. Just try out the exam papers and you'll understand a bit. The only things that I remember appearing on TMUA but not MAT are those logic questions, which aren't too dfficult imo.

That said, if you feel like taking two entrance exams is a bit tough, Warwick mostly looks at STEP anyway. A bad score in TMUA (or none at all) doesn't mean an immediate rejection from them. I have no idea how good do you need in TMUA (or MAT in the past) to actually get a reduced offer - I doubt Warwick admissions even answers this question other than "it differs from year to year" (but worth a try if you really want to know).

The upshot here, though, is that it's better if you ask Warwick/Oxford admissions directly.

I think I'm going to try to do all 3 :frown: but its all just familiar maths in unfamiliar circumstances. plenty of practice will definitely allow you to do more than 1

Anything is possible. That said - preparing for even one entrance exam on top of A-Levels is tough. As far as I know - Warwick will let you in on A-Levels alone (I know for straight maths, it's A*A*A* or A*A*AA with the A*A* in the maths / further). Might be better to focus on just the MAT for Oxford and ensuring you get flawless A-Levels?

Yes definitely possible to prepare for several, loads of people do both TMUA and MAT. Of course STEP is a different decision being much later

STEP is done in the summer of Year 13 during A levels so you do actually have time to prepare for the STEP, but you will have to start as soon as you possibly can. It's a large mountain to climb so start preparing early (speaking from experience). You don't want to start too late because you need to also prepare for your A levels as well.

TMUA and MAT - Preparing for MAT will help for you to prepare for TMUA as well, but I would say that you would benefit from grinding both admissions tests. I would prioritise MAT ever so slightly over TMUA, but you will need to find your balance between both admissions tests.
