Have you ever got entry one in your university offer despite completing a HND?

That happened to me when I applied through my local college's UCAS application at the third semester of my Higher National Diploma in Film and Television (Creative Media Production).
I apply for a relevant course at Queen's University in BA Film Studies and Productions. Despite a HND normally equate to two-years off a undergraduate degree, they put me down to an entry one despite applying for entry two.

I am sure that Film Studies is part of my first year's units and I have many units that goes into the practical experiences of a film industry. It is odd for me to get to this outcome as I was told by the admission that all decision on entry points are final and the degree that I have applied for does not include the "Two-year HND boost" rule.

In the end, I have exceeded the grade requirements on my HND in UCAS as I have received an overall Distinction. The requirements has just many Pass and Merit grades. While I fully understood the situation on their behalf. I am still baffled that I was, no better way of saying it, put down to a three year course. I have to asked from the perspective of a university student at anywhere that goes to an Undergraduate study. Does the admission ever considered bumping yours up to the later stages after applying for the early stages after they have seen your results? If so, how soon was it before and during your study in your undergraduate course. If you know others who got bumped up during their studies, how often did it happen in your time?

Are you positive that you specified on UCAS that you were applying for year 2 entry for that choice? If you leave the year blank it defaults to year 1 entry.

Affirmative. I did applied for a Year 2 on UCAS because I think the HND only counts to one year on a Undergraduate Degree at the time. As a mature student for seven years from Level 1 to HND, I was conditioned of doing two-year courses. The conditional offer requirements of the course is 9 passes and 7 merits, which for a BBB grade requirement is expected. Let just say that I was a high achiever that got the overall grade that I wanted that makes the requirement a low bar to hurdle. Also, it was around the time when the Industrial Strike happened where I was studied that makes Tutor References improbable to get before the January deadline. Edited: I just went through my application and it turns out that I did put in for a third year. Not the second year. Just have to check since it has been a while.

Just listing an HND doesn’t change the year of entry on your choices. You have to actively change the entry year on each choice if you didn’t want year 1 entry. It’s quite common for applicants to not realise and apply for year 1 entry by mistake and most universities will not query it.
Have you read the RPEL/APEL policy and process for the university concerned and asked them to consider you for year 2 or 3?

I did place in for a third year for each course that I apply at my chosen university and I was given the first year when a conditional offer was processed. I also have this question query to the admission stating that "For those offering a Higher National Diploma…Any consideration would be for Stage 1 entry only." So that is indeed the unfortunate side.
