Hi there,

I have just completed my BA in International Relations and Japanese and have loved my degree. International relations is a bit of a combination between politics and history, different courses might focus on different aspects but these may include International institutions, war, justice and peacebuilding. The aim is to give students a complex understanding of global politics. SOAS is different in that it teaches International Relations from a non-western perspective so in my degree I focused on East Asian politics! Have a look at the SOAS course content here: https://www.soas.ac.uk/study/find-course/ba-international-relations

In terms of careers many people choose to pursue careers in politics, policy and governance or NGO's and the charity sector. There are lots of possible career paths for an International Relations graduate.

Hope this helps,
Caera, Final year BA Japanese and International Relations
