Hello
I m y12 and has recently sat for my A level Maths exams. M confident will get at least an A. My prediction for coming UCAS application is A star for Chemistry A for Spanish (m not native speaker) and C for Biology.
My first Biology mock was grade D and recent Jun mock is a high C. Grade was inflated as quite a number of peers have access to the locked paper. I hand in quality work on time and perform well in class so imagine how shocked I was to be predicted C. Those who cheated in the exams were predicted A even though their class performance were not as good as mine. For GCSE my Biology was only a grade 8 but my 11 other subjects were 9.
It is disheartening that my Biology teachers do not believe that I can do better than C. With a grade C prediction it also means I do not meet entry requirement for a medicine course.
I am thinking of withdrawing from my A level Maths exams so that I can do Chemistry Maths and Spanish next year. I am sure I will be predicted A star for chemistry and Maths and A for Spanish. And. I will qualify for medicine entry requirement. I spoke with my Maths teacher but he is not in favour of the idea. What should I do? Gap year? I never dream I will never meet entry requirement r medicine.
you mean withdrawing from a-level biology? I’m not sure how it works at different collages etc but if your predicated grade is a concern for your UCAS application then ask your teacher about it. I don’t necessarily need a high grade for UCAS but my predicted grade for stats is a B and my stats teacher said he’d give me an A if I needed it for a UCAS application. Biology is an important subject for doing Medicine so I certainly wouldn’t advise dropping it.
