Studying forensic science

Hi, I recently got my mocks back and I am predicted B B C for my a levels. I would like to study forensic science at the university of Kent and would like to know whether these predicted grades would be sufficient enough to receive a conditional offer. I reckon I will achieve A B B at the end of my a levels.

Hi,

Typically for a course of BSc (Hons) Forensic Science, the requirements are 112, which in letter form is BBC. Which is exactly what you've been predicted. Please note, that universities look for more than just the grades, meaning that the personal statement is just as important as achieving the minimum requirement of grades.

If you have any further questions let me know.

Best Wishes,

Hi @Max28948 ,

Firstly, congratulations on your grades! Remember to take some time to rest before heading in to your final year of A-levels. Secondly, that is great to hear you want to join us at Kent! What interested you about forensic science?

With regard to grades, we cannot say for sure (which I understand is frustrating) but Kent is open for clearing and the staff are on hand not just to look at your grades but take other things to account if you don't meet the exact requirements. From your post it sounds like you are in year 12 (do correct me if I am wrong!) so you should also know that Kent is open for clearing every year.

On the website you will see this in the 'entry requirements' section of the BSc Forensic science course page: "During Clearing our entry requirements change in real time to reflect the supply and demand of remaining course vacancies. If you think you've found the course for you, apply now to start your Kent journey this September." (this is where I got the information from: https://www.kent.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/73/forensic-science-bsc)

In the meantime, have you been to the open days or applicant days? - I have heard their talks are interesting and there was even a fake crime scene at the last open day! If you would like to visit us and have not already do be sure to check out the information here: https://www.kent.ac.uk/courses/visit/open-days. (as more open days are confirmed for next year they will show up, right now we have had most fo them so there aren't many on the website but we do have campus tours you can book. This would be a great chance to have a chat with staff and admissions teams about grades and what happens with contextual offers and clearing when next year comes around.

I hope you receive the offer you want and all the best with the rest of your studies!
