No GCSE's and moving on to A Levels

I studied for my GCSE's at home but didn't take the exams due to family circumstances.

The UG course I'm most interested in (Law) doesn't require GCSE's and I've already moved on to studying for my A Levels and will continue to do so over summer. I plan to sit my A Levels as a private candidate (home ed) and am heading for A/A/A*

I don't feel like spending any more time on GCSE's as several good uni's aren't interested in them, only A Levels, but I'm curious to hear other people's take on this, if they have experience.

Curious to know if anyone else has a similar situation.

Thanks

I recommend you do English language and maths GCSE, as this is a requirement for many unis just in case U don't get to go to the one I want

Yeah, I was just sitting here coming the same conclusion e.g Doing them in Nov to get them out of the way.

Hi there

I would echo the comments above. 🙂 Whilst some Universities may not be too concerned with GCSEs, perhaps taking GCSE Maths and English may be a good idea. I only say this as some future job opportunities may require you to have certain grades achieved during your GCSEs.

However, speaking only of University entry requirements- many will put more weight on A levels/ only consider A levels. So it should not be a problem if you have already decided which University you wish to enter (and are satisfied that they accept extenuating circumstances with your GCSEs).

Hope this helps.

And your UCAS referee will need to explain convincingly why you don't have the full set of GCSEs.
