Secondhand Smoke

What do you think is the best thing to do when you're round a mate's house and him and all the mates he's invited round smoke, yet you are the only person who doesn't? I don't think it's right to tell them not to smoke because I'm in the house, but it's something I don't really feel comfortable being around. I know I could probably step outside, but when I come back in I'm still going to be subjected to secondhand smoke and they won't stop smoking anyway. What should be done about this?

I'm a non-smoker and would never expect my friends to down their cigarettes in my presence in their own homes. However, if you're good friends, and you're at his a lot, then let him know you're finding it hard around all the smoke, and that's why sometimes you don't want to hangout there. But do you have him round your house? Where does he smoke then? If outside, then he is abiding by your rules, which is reasonable.

Sometimes we have to let our friends off and just get on with it. There's a much smaller chance of lung problems in this day and age from secondhand smoke. I'd say you're lucky not to have lived through the 'smoking everywhere' era!

Just ignore it, the secondhand smoke you’ll breath in while you’re at that mate’s house for a few hours won’t kill you

I do get paranoid about things admittedly, but if they all smoked vapes I'd be alright.

Suggest going to the pub. At least there you now, thankfully, have the upper hand
