Why do couples break up for the long distance of uni?

I’ve aadded out based on length of Christmas, Easter and summer uni holidays that we spend equal time at home and uni in a year. 6 months either way. Couples from home often break up before uni due to distance but if you dated someone at uni you’d also be distance for the same amount of time in a year as someone from home? It just doesn’t make sense. I’m talking about people who aren’t breaking up to get around at uni with lots of ppl, but genuinely just due to the distance

Because first relationships tend to burn out quickly. And in reality other temptations may well crop up

A few of my friends kept on their relationships back home. One came to uni with his 6th form gf which seemed on the face of it like a good idea. Most relationships crumbled quickly, one I think survived in to second year

Long-distance relationships can be challenging no matter where you start from. It's like you're trading off time apart no matter which way you look at it. The key is communication and trust.
