The Student Room Group

You are not eligible for student finance.

Hello.
This situation was really stressing me out past few days and I don’t know should I be worried about it, or is it mistake of student finance company. I have applied for tuition fee only loan and I have reasons for it. My step father, husband of my mother is UK national and was born in the UK. And because of that I was eligible for a loan, if I Have been resident in the UK for 3 years before start of the study. I moved into the UK on 22 of august in 2021 and my study’s start on 1 of October. Which makes it 3 years and one months. But few days ago I have received an email which stated that I’m not eligible for a student finance because I wasn’t resident of the country for three years before start of the study period. I have pre-settled status, leave to remain and dependent visa. I also have a stump from the airport in my passport (which i send as an evidence) Which stated that I have come into country in August of 2021. Ever since I haven’t left country for move than 2 weeks. Also I send to a student finance both of my residence cards, my passport, copy of my birth certificate, cope of marriage certificate and passport of my step father.
So for me it just looks like a mistake of student finance, but I still have some doubts if maybe there are other reasons that I don’t know, even though they haven’t been stated in the mail that I have received. I already send an appeal and called them (they didn’t explain anything to me) Should I just wait for a response? Should I be worried?
Thank you

Hi teiavin,

Did you apply as the family member of a UK national? What was the reason given for your application being made ineligible?

Thanks,
Calum

Yes, I have applied as a family member for a tuition fee only funding. The reason was You have not been resident in the UK and Islands for 3 years before the first day of the first academic year of your course.” However I moved on 22 of august 2021 and have residency card.
