The Student Room Group

Things have not gone well for me the last month

I'm currently a 17 year old A-Level student. Ever since I fell out with my friend group, I've been very lonely with no one to talk to. I lost my part-time job as a potwasher due to it being too stressful for me, I don't have any legitimate hobbies, I'm falling behind on all my Welsh Baccalaureate assignments and my personal statement draft, and I'm feeling more and more stressed by the day. And it has all happened within just a month, so it feels like everything has just fallen through the floor for me. What would be the best place to start for someone in my position?

Hi, it’s completely normal to hit hard times. Friendship fallouts are inevitable. It can be overwhelming with school stuff so try and organise and do a bit at a time! It’s difficult but if you start doing a bit everyday it’ll feel manageable. Reach out to your teachers for help or extensions if you need. You’ve got this!

When you’re ready, focus on your academic life. Most ppl at school you don’t end up talking to in the future but getting good grades to get a good job or uni in the future is best to focus on. A job and real friends will come in time but focus on your future instead of what has happened . What helps with me personally is if you give yourself a time limit to be upset, relax, be angry, think , rot in bed lol etc and after the time is done you will hopefully be in a better headspace. It’s normal to feel stressed so just give yourself the time to be
