Any dentistry personal statement tips and advice ??

Hi I want to apply to dentistry but I’m not really sure what to add to my personal statement and also what I can do to stand out in my personal statement. I also wanted to do more wider reading/research but I wasn’t too sure where to start so any tips would be really helpful.

Also what stuff can I do to improve my manual dexterity? I do a few things that show manual dexterity but I was wondering what other stuff I can do - something that isn’t too expensive like instruments haha

You can buy cheap instruments of amazon. I bought electic violins for like £70.
Crochet/knitting, drawing. You can try and learn to write/draw with you non-dominant hand. Something harder - write with both hand at the same time - you can for example mirror the text.

Read journals like the British Dental Journal (it's open access so its free), do some independent research and write an article/ essay and try entering into competitions and submit to journals
Dental schools don't really care about man dex as they teach you that in the 1/2 years - they care more about your interest in the subject/career and skills which you have that are useful to the career

Okay thank you I’ll have a look at the journal. How would you incorporate it into a PS, just talk about how I read it and what I felt/took from it?
