Time management a level politics

When it comes to writing my 30 markers I always struggle to finish the question and it’s bringing my grade down heavily, my teacher says my content is very good in the paragraphs I do but that I don’t do enough, how can I fix this because Ive had this problem since gcse where I always struggle to finish essay based tests on time😭

I didn't take A-Level Politics (didn't have the option unfortunately) but I had the same issue as you when I was doing my A-Levels. In Economics we were so short of time anyway, and I often would fail to finish writing essays, even though I knew what I wanted to say. My teacher's advice at the time was to change the structure of my writing. For our essays we would have three paragraphs (+ intro and conclusion), but that would take too long. So instead they suggested some of us write two longer central paragraphs instead of three. So we would have to develop our ideas a bit more, but it would save us time. Perhaps you can ask your teacher if they have any similar suggestions for Politics essays?

If your issue is timing, you’re going to want to work on doing more practice essays in timed conditions. This may start off with one paragraph under timed conditions, but you can slowly build your way up to a full essay over time. You may also want to look into extra time or using a word processor if you’re entitled to either of these. I also struggled with politics timing, but using a word processor and having extra time has definitely improved my performance in terms of both essay quality and grades. These are assessments that you can do within your school, usually with the SEN team.
