Parents putting in wrong SFE information (?)

Hi there. I’m going into my second year of uni and have reapplied for SFE. Last year i got around the 7,200 mark, however this year i’ve just checked my SFE to see i’m getting the maximum loan. I was confused by this and asked my parents if they put the right information in, and they’re adamant they have and they didn’t even need to re-enter there earnings. When they said this i realised they probably messed up on something, but ive only recently checked. My mum doesn’t work so it’s only my dad’s income needed but he earns enough to not get max. I’ve tried to call student finance but due to my work hours clashing with theirs i can’t wait in a call to sort it out. Ive only recently been made aware of this mistake and am now worried i won’t get my SFE in time if it’s gone wrong. i will obviously take time off work if i need to but if there is any other quick way to contact them that would be helpful.

Have you tried logging into your account to use the online chat function during office hours? You could try during your lunch break.

hi there, yes i have done a couple times. There’s normally a small queue but i get quite unlucky as i normally get through at the very end and it’s not enough time. I’m going to book some holiday off soon and i’ll try and use one of the days to contact them.

Call using WeQ4U. See my last response for hours of operation. Sure you don't work every day of the week?

but obviously with 9-5 i have to get home and do a lot of things at home. It was just becoming a bit tedious. I’ll give it ago this evening.

I know what you mean, it's a b4llache that you sit in a q for 27 to 49 minutes and often just get cut off for no reason when transferred to another dept. The system is atrociously overloaded, understaffed, underfunded, and politically polarised aginst applicants. I think Student Finance needs to be changed and givena whole new systemic makeover in provision of funding in relation to support and means-testing nonsense.

It’s exactly that. I understand it’s very busy and so i’d rather not get annoyed about it when i’ve got free time at home!
