Occupational Health Appointment

Hi, I’m due to study Paramedic Science at the University of Sunderland in September. I completed a ‘new starter health questionnaire’ as part of my application, and now I have been asked to attend a face to face appointment at the hospital regarding this. Should I be concerned?
I figured if there was no issues with my health questionnaire, i wouldn’t have to attend an additional appointment. I’m worried that some of my answers may affect the university’s decision to enrol me on this course.
Could anyone let me know if this is standard procedure, or if any other September paramedic student has been asked to attend a follow up appointment. Thanks in advance!

Face-to-face appointments are normal and are required in addition to the questionnaire for healthcare courses.

Hey, :wavey:

Do not worry at all!

Many healthcare students are required to attend an Occupational Health Appointment prior to starting their course. At the appointment they will most likely go through your medical history and you may have to have some vaccinations that you will need to start on the course. This is because you will be in a healthcare setting on placements.

However, every university is different so if you want some more clarification i would get into contact with the university as i am sure they would be more than happy to help.

I hope this helps and good luck starting as a student paramedic in September!
