Is it worth moving into private accommodation instead of student accommodation?

Hi,

I am starting my final year in September, my degree is a BA in English Literature. As the final year approaches I have been thinking about what I want to do next, I want to pursue an MA in English Literature. I don't know why as I have never been, but I feel like Yorkshire is my home and it is where I belong.

For my MA in English literature, I have been focusing on universities in Yorkshire. Some universities in Yorkshire offer postgraduate accommodation based on a 38-week contract and the monthly costs is £450.00/£550.00 per a month. I want to relocate and live in Yorkshire permanently. I have been looking at one-bedroom private rentals in Yorkshire, most places cost around £400.00, I have been looking at my income, it is affordable. Should I just skip the student accommodation and move into private accommodation?

Personal choice? Sounds like rental isn't a problem. Moving out to private means you have more solitude which might be what you're looking for. Equally, living in postgrad accommodation would allow more easy fraternization with other post grads. If it were me I'd be in postgrad accommodation but then again I stayed in halls throughout my degree and refused to move out as I loved the social life.

Now if you could afford to put a down payment down for property and pay a mortgage instead of rent, that might be worth doing.
