foundation vet med entry 2025

Hi there! I am currently in year 12 going onto year 13 hoping to apply to some foundation courses in vet med at RVC and Bristol, as well as applying to Liverpool and perhaps another. Just wondering if anyone was in the same boat? I'd love to speak to more people who are also applying this year and maybe even to the same unis as me!

Many thanks,
Kyra

I can’t comment on RVC or Bristol, but I’d make sure you read up on the Liverpool one. Based on your post, I’m not sure if you would be eligible for the Liverpool foundation year for VetMed as it’s targeted at home mature and ‘non-traditional’ students.

Hiya, I did the year 0 via Harper Adams, and I know another registered vet nurse who did the year 0 via Keele, so we are both starting at HKVS in a couple of weeks. If you would like to know more about the course(s), feel free to drop me a message 🙂

I’m a mature student so my entry was slightly different academic wise. But GCSES maths A, English B, biology B, and some others all C and above. Level 3 animal management triple distinction* and level 3 diploma Vet Nursing & my post graduate qualification in zoological species

Hi. We are visiting Harper Adams next month. We are looking at Bioveterinary Science with possible entry onto the Veterinary course afterwards. Any advice on what my daughter should look out for. Thank you

Is this for the Access to Veterinary Medicine route course? There are only 10 places, so the course is very competitive. But they also do a very similar foundation course via Keele (modules vary between the two foundation years - but both lead to entry to HKVS). The year isn’t difficult at all and the teaching staff are all lovely and friendly, so I would recommend applying 🙂

For the foundation course at Keele, is this also as competitive as Harper Adam’s? I have heard some saying despite completing the course, only a few are selected to go onto the veterinary course. Wondering if it is worth applying there since it seems very competitive! 🙂

It is honestly i can’t wait to get this done and finish this year, i’m so excited to move away however, i am a little scared i may not get any places. Ive also been looking into accommodation but it’s not very easy to navigate RVCs website and accommodation. Do you know when the next open day will be?

I had a quick search, and they haven’t unfortunately stated when the next open day in 2025 will be :’) I remember there being some videos on their YouTube channel showing the different rooms across the campuses, and although you might not see them in person i found the vids helpful! And don’t worry, I am also worried about not getting any places haha. I really hope we are able to get one or more though! I am excited to move out and experience university life!!
