MAT Prep

Hi! I have been studying for the Oxford MAT but I have been teaching myself series since it is the only topic we haven't covered in school yet. I have not done recurrence relations since it does not explicitly mention them on the MAT syllabus. I was wondering if it is still worth covering and whether it comes up indirectly in any questions.
Thanks!

Its probably semantics whether its a recurrence relationship or a term-to-term definition of a sequence, but mat 2022 QD is an example. Cant say for definite, but I doubt theyd ask questions much beyond a basic understanding so recurrence relationships based on arithmetic, geometric, fibonacci, ... though theyd probably ask them in an unsual way, so you may have to difference them or consider prime factorisation (previous question) or .... So problem solve rather than learn new theory. The mat livestream sequences and series notes/questions has a few such examples in.

Hey, having a basic understanding is great since some problems might involve series/sequences where knowing recurrence relations could provide an indirect advantage.
