You still do have a chance, but majority of places want you to have at least a 6 in maths.
I would recommend retaking gcse maths (because thats what I did, as I got the same grade as you).
Hope this helps!

As above, either find 4 choices where you meet the Maths GCSE grade, or ask you school about retaking it alongside your A levels. This would not disadvantage your application, and if successful, any offer would just include the GCSE grade as an extra condition.

Also if u do retake in November yr13 doesn’t most interviews occur during November and some December I don’t know if they would give u an interview after u received ur grade or before

No you’ll have to retake maths since there will be other applicants with certainly higher grades than you

There's a lot of misinformation in this thread. Firstly to answer the above - as you need to list the pending resit in UCAS when you apply, they will see you are resitting and thus may invite you to interview and even make an offer - which will be conditional on achieving the required grade in GCSE Maths if they have minimum requirements.

For medical schools that just use minimum requirements and don't score GCSEs (e.g. Imperial. UCL) it DOES NOT matter what grade the maths GCSE is as long as its higher than the minimum. It is not the case that someone with a higher grade would be preferentially made an offer - that would only be the case for medical schools which formally score GCSEs for shortlisting and would also depend on your ither GCSE grades (as they compare the overall results and not individual grades). I would suggest against applying to those kinds of medical schools anyway.

If you find 4 medical schools with minimum GCSE grade requirements of a 5 in GCSE Maths and they don't score GCSEs, you could just apply without resitting. I suspect you won't find 4 such medical schools and will have more options if you do resit and get a 6 though so would recommend aiming to do that.

While resitting earlier may be more convenient for you I don't think it will influence whether you get invited to interview provided you list the pending resit in UCAS (which you have to do anyway if resitting).
