Regretting my postgrad...

In September 2023 I joined a postgrad (not comfortable saying what exactly, but it's within the EECS department) on a part-time basis. I got through this year but failed a module (got a first on the coursework but failed the exam worth 80% of the module miserably). I did well last semester, and got a first in my modules. This semester not so much, I got a pass one one module and failed the other. But due to my good results in semester 1, I should still average a first this year if I pass the resit for the failed module according to my calculations.

My issue isn't really with my grades or abilities. I know I'm capable, I just didn't enjoy semester 2 modules at all. My social life is also bad. I'm not expecting to have the same experience as undergrads would, but I've managed to make no friends at all. I did make 1-2 course mates, but they're full-time students so finish this year. I've also lost contact with 1 of them and I'm not close with the other.

Uni is a chore to get to. Also the teaching sucks. No offense, but certain lecturers can't even speak English properly or just read off slides.

I'm just wondering - should I stick it out? I have another year to go and graduate in 2025. I suspect I'll be even more stressed next year having to do my dissertation and all, but I've made it this far.

Why are you doing a postgrad degree? If it's so you can have a good time for 3 years - then ditch it if you aren't having a good time. If it's so you get a qualification, access to knowledge (ie the reading lists) and a greater awareness of issues, arguments, positions, the literature etc, and it will boost your CV, then see it out.

I can guarantee you that in the future, no one is going to asses your PG qualification on the basis of whether you enjoyed the experience or thought the teaching quality was good or not. You either have it and they don't care, or you have it and they think it adds value. Their analysis will be no deeper than that.
