Need help picking my third A Level!!

Hi, i’m going to sixth form in September but I still haven’t decided my third A level. At first I thought I wanted to do english lit, psychology and sociology… however I’ve recently realised that psychology and sociology are too similar. So, I will pick one of them as I want to have options when I leave sixth form, because I dont know what I want to study after sixth form. Any ideas on a third subject i could do?? ps. im terrible at maths lol

You should do either business or biology.

If your interested in science, Biology can open a lot of options, likewise maths as well. However, if stems not your thing and i get that, history, geography, politics (could be quite interesting if your into this kinda stuff). Even econ goes well or law. Literally anything can go with english and psychology there such versatile subjects.

Also i did both psychology and sociology and they are not similar at all. The only similarity is research methods. But if your gonna get rid of one get rid of sociology as psychology is far more interesting imo

I see a lot of people suggesting Biology. Only do a science like Biology or Chemistry if you are genuinely interested in them because it they are the hardest A-Levels.

Eng lit & Psychology are essay based subjects so other essay based subjects would go well with them (History, Eng Lang, Geography, Law, Philosophy, Politics ETC).

Sociology and Psychology are not 'similar'.
You need to look a bit deeper into both subjects before you make this decision.

As others have also said sociology and psychology are not similar however if you want to diversify your options then I have a few points for you to consider.
First of all if you take psychology it is sometimes considered a science by unis (in term of entry requirements) so if you were to take psych and biology (least maths involved and most related i think, but you could take chem if you prefer) then this would open up several pathways in science related options. If you’d rather focus on humanities then maybe history/politics/geography or a language could work quite well. Basically just take a subject you’re interested in, think you will enjoy and also that you think you’ll do well at.
If you take sociology then even if you took a science your options would be limited for applying to science related degrees so if you’re considering that route id recommend taking psych (this doesn’t mean if you’re not interested in science take sociology- pick based on your interest in the subject). Again take another subject which you’ll enjoy and are confident you can do well in.
A lot of non-stem degrees dont have specific entry requirements however for geography some unis will want geography (this can also open up ecology and environmental science routes if that’s of interest, recommend to take psychology alongside if that’s the case for science background) history degrees sometimes want history and some language degrees sometimes want background in a language. You can still find options for these but having studied them prior is probably an advantage if you have any interest in them.
As for choosing between sociology and psychology if you dont already have a preference I would say that theyre not actually particularly similar as others have said so maybe look closer at the course content or watch a few YouTube videos of students reviewing that they thought of the subject at a level and whether they recommend it to get an overview of what kind of subject it is.
Hope this helps a little and happy to try to answer any further questions you might have. Good luck with your exam results!

You should do either business or biology.

Their choices are clearly arts/social sciences based.

Do Philosophy, Politics, or History. Of those, Philosophy is the 'super subject'. Many subjects have their root in Philosophy.
