We’re applying to Medical unis this sept. About to sit UCAT. Want to apply to unis that may consider AAB as my worst case scenario. Have a lot of leadership, GP surgery and Volunteering experience. Can anyone help identify which unis we can strategically apply to with this.

I think you should look at KMMS, Plymouth and Brunel. Best is to look up at individual uni websites as requirements tend to change every year.

Good that you are thinking strategically!

I would focus on the UCAT for now. Get that as high as possible and don’t forget the SJT.

Once you have it have a read through the application policies for the various unis (check you meet the minimum requirements including A level subjects to winnow it down to work out which are your shortlist candidates.

Once you have done this bit of research then if you are a UK home candidate go to the which medical school thread to sense check your choices.

If you are an international student you could have a look at it to see the importance of strategic applications, but you may find more specific advice or information on the international applicants sticky thread at the top of the forum as cut off information may be slightly different.

Good luck,

Hey there,
We would suggest that you have a look at brunel university london as our students start their Gp placements in their first year, sometime around november and our entry requirements for the year 2024-2025 is AAB and our entry requirements for 2025-2026 is AAA.
Hopefully we've been of some help.
Regards,
Brunel Medical School.
