career advice - asap

Hi so i am currently at uni of leicester doing business management.

I am debating whether to do an economics or accounting masters degree for 1 year.

To go into either accounting or finance.

Is uni of surrey a good enough uni, and which course will be better and is the masters enough to land me a decent job after.

Why do a masters? Why not just apply for jobs and see how you get on?

Hi @oliverm18

Both Economics and Accounting are strong choices for a master's degree, depending on your specific career goals. A master's in either field can provide valuable skills for careers in accounting or finance.

Leicester offers excellent programs with strong industry connections and career support. The best course will depend on your interests and career aspirations. A master's degree, coupled with relevant experience and networking, can definitely help you land a good job in these fields.

Please let me know if you have any specific question about Leicester 🙂

Hi there!

I believe the better course would be the one you want to do the most, and that interests you more. In my experience, being actively interested and involved in your course ensures better results, which in turn will aid you in applying for jobs later on.

At Surrey, there are actually several master's courses you can do that can help you into your chosen sector, so it's worth having a thorough look. That said, as you mentioned wanting to go into accounting or finance, the Accounting and Finance MSc sounds like a good option to get you close and personal with everything you need to know about your chosen career path. If you already have professional experience in the area, then you might want to do the Economics programme to expand your knowledge even further.

I hope this helps!
