Hi
@Ruchiraa !
The University of Southampton offers a large range of student accommodation both close to campus and further into the city center if you are attending our uni! If not, in my personal opinion most areas in Southampton are ideal for students due to the university bus service that goes all the way from Southampton airport, passing the university campuses, through the high street and into the town center, as well as the National Oceanography centre! This bus service is open to every even if you are not a student at the University of Southampton.
The Portswood area in Southampton is where a lot of students tend to move in to after the first year in University accommodation, it has many pubs, bars and places to eat. I believe it can be quite cheap but it is mainly houses rather than single flats.
As far as I know there are quite a few private student accommodations scattered throughout Southampton, mostly towards the city center. What I have heard from other students is that these have all been of high quality as most of the private accommodations are relatively new to Southampton. These private student accommodation buildings tend to be on the more expensive side but have good facilities and are usually found in good locations around Southampton so it is worth having a look.
I live in a house in Southampton so I will not know much about accommodation in Winchester. However, if you choose to live in Southampton, there is a bus service that goes to Winchester from most areas in Southampton and will get you to Winchester in less than 45 minutes.
As a student living in Southampton I can say that there is a very big scene for students here due to there being the University of Southampton as well as Solent University. There are a few clubs and lots of bars and pubs which are often filled with students, especially during term time. There is also Westquay shopping centre which has many restaurants and shops as well as bowling and a cinema, so there's lots to do!
I hope this helps!
