Lupton Residences - suitable for PhD students?

This autumn I (32M) will be starting a PhD in English Literature at the University of Leeds. I applied for a room in the postgraduate halls Blenheim Point, but have instead been offered a room in Lupton Residences, which are advertised as being for both undergraduates and postgraduates. I am somewhat hesitant about accepting as I am unsure how suitable these are for a postgraduate student in their thirties. In particular, I would prefer not to share a block with undergraduates given that I am at such a different stage in my life. I presume that postgraduate students would typically be put in a block together, but I cannot find any information to confirm this. I am also somewhat put off by having to share a bathroom - even as an undergraduate I didn't experience this - but I suppose it will be manageable if everything else is OK. I would appreciate advice from anyone who has stayed at Lupton Residences, and particularly anyone that has done so as a postgraduate. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I’m not a student at Leeds. But I am kindof in a similar situation to you as I’m also a mature student who doesn’t want to live with undergraduates. You could email the accommodation office, and ask whether it’s possible to be placed with postgraduate students, and just example you reasoning. They’re usually quite accommodating. That’s what I did. I hope it helps 🙂

I was there as a fresher and, while it was fun for that time, I would say you’re likely to feel a bit out of place. Headingley is a great location though, espec for postgrads I’d say- bit of separation from uni, *slightly* less studenty than other areas so has a nicer community feel than hyde park say. Would recommend you try and find a room in a shared house in Headingley maybe short term and see how it goes, rather than signing a student accommodation which you’re contracted to for the whole year. Good luck!

I'm going to Lupton as an undergrad. I think this year might actually be the first year they're advertising it for PG and UG? I didn't remember seeing it was also PG when I applied. I hear it's very social and a bit of a party atmosphere which tbh may not be what you're looking for.

I'm a postgrad coming to Lupton this autumn, I also didn't know it was both PG and UG. Which block were you given? I think that there are five blocks in Lupton and I'm worried if being placed in the same block as undergrad
