GCSE English Speech Help! - Urgent

Hi, I'm new here and I'm not sure if anyone can help but I'm doing my GCSE English speech on euthanasia this week, and I haven't started anything as I'm not sure how to write or how much! So if anyone has done this topic could you please give me advice on structuring it and things to include and how long it should be, and if possible any tips to presenting it without nerves and answering the questions effectively at the end for a distinction, thank you for reading my long post!

Hey, I did my speech this year but didn’t do this topic but for writing the speech I recommend opening with a rhetorical question and then addressing the audience- your intro doesn’t need to be too long. You can find points and information on https://www.bbc.co.uk/ethics/euthanasia/infavour/infavour_1.shtml and also youtube videos. For my speech, I watched youtube videos to do with my topic and I made notes. For your conclusion, don’t make it too long, and try to also end with a rhetorical question or a statement which will stick with the audience. Make sure to include statistics and emotive language. Good luck with the speech!
Research
Watch a few youtube videos for wider context and so you've got some stuff to talk about.
A speech needs an argument, so make one i.e. for or against. Then gather evidence from different sources (you might want to save links to add a source page to a powerpoint or for later reference) that supports your argument. Plan what you'll include for ~ 3-4 decently-sized paragraphs.

Writing & Preparation
Next, write it and edit it later if you have time. Include lots of rhetorical devices, questions (which you can arrange for your classmates to ask you) and at least one counter-argument which you break down.
Make cue cards with a few key words to jog your memory when you're performing. If you want, you can make a basic powerpoint to complement your speech. Include lots of photos and a few bullet points of text per slide; this can be a replacement for your cue cards.
Practise your speech in front of a mirror and then in front of your parents/friends. Time it - it should be at least 2-3 minutes, but I recommend 5-7 so you've got time to do everything you need to do. Ask for feedback and act on it if you can.

Presentation

Use the space i.e. move around a bit, make gestures & facial expressions

Include pauses after your questions to allow your audience to think - don't rush through it! You've got a max of 10 minutes iirc so you don't need to worry about running out of time

Project your voice so even people at the back of the room can hear

Thinking that your audience is something silly e.g. monster fish might help with your nerves, although I find they disappear after you've been talking for a few minutes.

Don't worry! It's needed to get your language grade, but colleges/sixth forms don't care about it really and all you need to do is talk & persuade to pass. Good luck

Thank you so much! Will you lose marks if you don't answer the questions at the end effectively?

Thank you so much! Is answering the questions at the end well essential for a distinction?

Thx for replying! Do the questions at the end affect your grade if you answer badly?

Yes, my teacher told me that if you answer badly, your grade may be lower. My advice is not to give long answers, as the longer you go on, the higher chances you have to make a mistake; try to be as calm as you can when answering the questions, think about possible ones you may get or you can get people in your class to ask you certain things so you'll have a pre-prepared answer. Good luck!

Idk if they actually will, but ppl say that they'll run the speeches through a checker, so don't even try to plagiarise/cheat using AI. If they do catch you, they may not let you pass your speech and so you risk not getting your language GCSE. The exam board might even disqualify you from the exams you sit with them - it's really not worth it.
Please don't do it - you've still got time to make a quick rough draft and you can blunder your way through the speech if you have to. You actually have to do very little to pass.

Alr thanks for letting me know, I was tempted to do it as my speech is tmrw, but I'll write a draft and practise from there then
UPDATE: Hello and tysm to all that gave me advice for my English speech. I completed it 3 days ago, and it went quite well, the only thing is that I felt that I was quite glued to my flashcards but otherwise I performed it naturally and answered the questions well. I predict I might get a merit, but my English teacher said we'll find out our results next year on results day, so still a long time to wait! 🙂

That’s great! I’m also getting my results next year, it feels like it’s in so long. I think you could get merit or distinction based off what you said
