can i go up to local businesses and ask for a job because since i finished my gcses i have applied to many jobs and only managed to get 2 interviews but was rejected

Better to have applied for a job on the high street a couple of months ago. You’ll struggle to just suddenly find one but always better to ask. You might get lucky?

A lot of shops and supermarkets (e.g. tesco, mcdonalds etc etc) require you to apply online, on the careers section of their website. So try there.
Also try websites such as indeed.com
