In a stick situation on what to do - After A-Levels.. Do I go to Bulgaria or stay???

Hello there everybody,

I have just finished my a levels and am still waiting for my grades. I have studied Biology, Chemistry and Economics and this year I did not try as much as I could have done and was predicted BCC, after that, during the exams I was quite ill and also did not put in much effort...
I think I will get a A-B in economics. C-D in Biology and E-D in chemistry. - Realistically.

I am very interested in 2 things. Economics and Dentistry. (initially I wanted to do dentistry that's why I chose bio n chemistry, and kept eco as a back up)

I am stuck between:
1. Just getting bad grades and studying Economics BSC extremely hard at a mediocre university (middlesex) to then work in finance
pros:
- no time wasted
cons:
- its rather difficult and people studying business/accounting (much easier) are able to get the same level of job as me

2. Studying dentistry - this means I will have to retake my a levels while running the risk of the possibility of not getting in due to retaking or not achieving the grade requirements again.
Or I study dentistry in Europe (Bulgaria, Romania, etc) - however I have checked everywhere and most theses universities do not talk about entry requirements for international students. - also I cannot find a single agency which has positive reviews (pls let me know some)

let me know your opinions on my situation and what you'd do if you were in it.

Dentistry and economics are 2 completely different careers. You need to use this summer to decide if you really want to do dentistry, and don’t forget you have to sit the UCAT before applying. Regardless of grades there should be a way to get i.e. foundation courses, resitting. Imo dentistry is a long and tough career and requires full passion for it - if you’re deciding between economics and dentistry, pick economics.

Have a look in clearing - there may be better unis and you don't have your results yet!

Worst case scenario will be grades BDE. I think even for clearing those grades are way too low. :frown:

There's no way you can predict your result- the mark schemes aren't out and nor are the grade boundaries.

As long as you get a good amount of experience i.e. internships you should be fine. The other option is resitting A levels and applying to better universities. There is always a way. You don’t even need university to work in finance, you can do an apprenticeship at a big company and progress from there

Hey, I'm curious as to what you ended up doing? I was in the same situation as you torn between Economics and Dentistry, ended up applying for dentistry but didn't get any offers. Now I'm applying for Sofia for dentistry this year so if you need any advice for agencies just lmk

Ooh i've not heard much about slovakia mainly just Bulgaria and Romania. How is it? I chose Sofia as i have a family member who studied there and has since graduated as well as the fact i already have close family friends studying there 😁.

Bulgaria is fine too, you have to find your own patients there is what I know, in Slovakia you don't

But they both allow you to skip the ORE that's the main thing. I made a video about it on my channel too, so definitely worth it to get yourself into EU unis

Nicee whats your channel i'll give it a look! Also yeah i heard about the whole patients thing but oh well i'm sure i'll figure it out by then. It's good that we don't have to do the exam too.
