You say you failed "a year at uni twice" and then refer to "the one module I failed".

Can you talk us through some more details? You took this module, failed it, resat the exam that same year, failed it again, and so were asked to repeat the year. Is that right so far? Then you failed the same module again, and resat the exam for the module, and failed that again. So you've failed the exam for this module four times all together. Have I got that right?

Which year are you in? How many credits is this one module worth? What uni are you at? (We can lookup the rules and regulations for that uni to see what your options are.)

Hi
My situation is I do a four year course , I failed third year and re-sat and passed the year. In fourth year ( this year ) I failed one module of 60 credits. So I failed this module twice the normal sit and the re-sit. I am studying at the university of the west of England

Thanks. You need to have a good read of UWE's Academic Regulations 2023/24 (PDF).

You'll also need to take a look at the Programme Specification for your particular course. This is because the Academic Regulations PDF is littered with caveats and exclusions along the lines of "depending on the requirements set out in the Programme Specification" and "where this is permitted by the requirements of the programme." As a result, it's difficult to tell what the applicable regulations actually are.

Regulation D7 says you'll be given an opportunity to retake the module (which will be you last opportunity to pass it by the way, unless exceptional circumstances apply).

You may also be eligible for an exit award (e.g. an ordinary degree instead of an honours degree). I can't tell for sure as your "I do a four year course" comment doesn't make it clear whether this is due to having done a foundation year at the start of the course, or because it's an integrated Master's.

There is nothing within the regulations which prevents you enrolling again for the next academic year in order to retake the failed module. Although the regulations don't specify this, I would expect there to be a reduced fee involved, given that you'll only be doing 60 credits rather than the full 120. And yes, you'll need to self-fund this as you've already utilised the "gift year" from Student Finance.

I strongly advise that you contact your Academic Personal Tutor or one of the Student Support Advisers to work out your next steps.

Do let us know what happens via this thread, and good luck!

Am in my 3rd yr and has failed placement twice. Course leade said am not entitled to another placement but I will be awarded an exit certification. What band can this certification give when looking for employment.

The phrase "exit certification" is a little vague, as it just means "a qualification below that for which you were studying". Did your course lead not say what that qualification would actually be?
