How to book uni accomodation in August if my maintenance loan comes in September
So I’ve tried to book uni accomodation in London but everytime I do, the first installment is due during August but I can’t pay for anything until my busary and maintenance loan come in September. I would try to find accomodation starting in October so I could pay in advance on September but that doesn’t seem to work either. What should I do?

Sorry to hear this, it is a really frustrating issue with the loan payments. Have you got a student bank account? It might be that you have to open a student bank account and use your overdraft for this first payment, while you are waiting for your loan to come in. Alternatively, you could always speak to the bank about what the best option would be or type of account to open depending on how much overdraft you need to use.

I looked up but it won’t seem to work. Most accomodations expect 3 payments annually so the first payment will be quite hefty. In London, for a 51-week contract for £400 a week, the first installment out of 3 would be well over £6000, which I can’t easily borrow.
I have another idea; do student accomodations often have contracts starting in October/November? Because if so, they’d want the first payment in September which would work best as that’s when I get my maintenance loan and bursary.

Hey, I had to pay my 1st pay in August too but I asked rhem to split the payment into few parts so now I don't have to oay the 1st instalment as big as it was before, try emailing them and asking if that's possible.
