PGCE + QTS funding with previous Masters/Ph.D

I have recently applied for teacher training QTS/PGCE courses and am part way through the interview process with a couple of offers to consider.

I already have an MSc for which I received a loan (this was not via student finance themselves, but rather some kind of educational loan via the coop that I paid off as soon as the course was finished), and a Ph.D for which I received a scholarship (which covered my fees) and a stipend.

I'm somewhat confused by the student loan financing situation, as when I check online it says that any previous postgrad qualifications restrict eligibility for student finance but a quick google reveal some old forum posts indicating this wasn't the case for ITT.

I am just wondering if the situation has now changed and my postgrad study means I cannot apply for the tuition fee loan. Or does the type of course affect this? I have applied for teacher led initiatives (including one SCITT) that have partnerships with various unis for the PGCE element.

Hi there,

Do you already hold QTS? How long is the course?

Thanks,
Ross

Hi,

I don't hold QTS already, and it's a full time course for one academic year.

Thanks
