Pgdip psychology

Hello, if I self fund a pgdip psych conversion course, therefore pay for the course myself, can I get a student loan for a masters in Health psych.

The reason I ask this is because the pgdip is a conversion, does it equate to a masters. I believe if I hold a masters I cannot get funding for another masters even if I self funded the first. I am confused, any insight would be helpful.

Hi there,

If it's a full masters course you want funding for after your PG Dip this would not affect your eligibility for the masters.

Thanks,

Furthermore Ross, if I did a masters part time over 2 or 3 years how would this effect universal credit? Do they take 30 percent of the loan and deduct that amount over the whole part time period of study?

Hi Hwel,

Yes, that's correct. You will need to speak to the DWP to find out precisely how your student finance funding will affect Universal Credit.

Thanks,
