Hi I have big passion and dream to became (adult)nurse. But Uni I applied to offered me a health and social care course instead. What to do ? Can I transfer to nursing after fundation year? Will it take 5 years for me to finish Uni after transfer? Should I proceed with HSC or reject offer? It is University of Bedfordshire.

What reasons did they give you for offering an alternative course? Did you meet the entry requirements for nursing? Have you applied elsewhere?

Generally they are offered an alternative course for either - 1) they have filled the course that OP had originally applied for, or they haven't had enough points when they done the interview so therefore they offered another course instead of saying sorry you have been rejected.
Yeah OP should ask for feedback and also perhaps ask them for a reason why they offered them another course. If she applied elsewhere and awaiting a outcome then there's still a possibility they may be offered nursing.
You have an amazing passion and dream to become an Adult nurse!
I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t get offered the place on the course you wanted.
Liverpool John Moores University have Adult Nursing as a clearing option to start in September, this is a 3 year undergraduate course, in which upon completion you will receive a BSc Adult Nursing.

I will definitely ask for feedback as I am adult person with at least 6 years experience in care homes, nursing homes, home care have done too. I have gained lots of experience working with nurses, seniors in care homes and management. I guess there was not (required)certificate of lvl2 English delivered which made them think I do not deserve please in Nursing course. I am really disappointed as I Have experience in social care During work. I would like to lvl up myself in healthcare and dedicate my life career to Nursing. I can't imagine otherwise. I am hoping they will be keen to transfer from HSC to Nursing after fundation Year. I will do extra lvl2 English for future career. I am in England 10 years and speak fluent but need a certificate.
Also my friend got offer of HSC on another Uni in Leeds with no going through requirements I have and no lvl2 English, no previous experience too. I am so confused why the way of studying is so easy for some people and some not ☹️

I'm so sorry to see you couldn't get what you really are passionate and have potentials. I think most of uni now require level 2 English and maths. You can ask the uni if they accept English functional skills qualification as level 2.

Thanks 🙏 🙏 for your response back.
Don't take this to heartedly what I am going to say to you - I have known people similar situations as yourself with lots of nursing experience but yet still didn't get a offer or a interview for university, eventually after a few times of applying they did get a offer for nursing degree at university. Things like your friend getting a offer with no experience happens alot so it's not uncommon for this to happen I'm afraid 😟 😟.
Asking for feedback should hopefully give you the reasons why they didn't offer you a place at university.
I would suggest that you reapply again and again until you get a offer.
I applied for adult nursing when I was 17 but got rejected, I was also rejected when I was 18,19,20 and 21 ( I did apply for different universities in my own part of the UK) so I decided to leave things for a while before I decided to reapply for nursing but I also applied for midwifery at the same time, I was again rejected for nursing but I was finally offered a place for midwifery but at a time university in another city which I took. I qualified as a midwife in summer of 2019 and haven't looked back. ( I was always wanting to do adult nursing first and then eventually apply for the shortened midwifery course to become a midwife - by doing the three years of midwifery degree actually saved me going back to university for it).
I would definitely look into the universities entry requirements for nursing and see what they are requesting so that you can perhaps aim for that if you require to do anything more. As each university has there own individual entry requirements.

Apparently they filled up places, my application was later than others ;(

Thanks for reply, that explains a lot. Apparently they filled up places and my application was later than others so I got alternative course. Well, I am 30 years old with family and choosing different area of Uni could make my life more difficult as it is. I need to say local in Bedfordshire and keep trying looks like . They accept functional skills lvl 2 English which make me half happy and I know what to do next time. I will come back as strong player . Sorry that Your career path went this way. It feels sad that You couldn't do what Your heart desire and got rejected many times. From me: As Young person with no family chains always keep in mind education and Your safe place in the world as sometimes is late for such choices and it is easier to get discouraged (I am example). Sending love xx

You are welcome 🤗 for the explanation best I could have to you.
That explains why you have been offered a alternative course just because you were late submitting your application ( like I said previously they can offer a alternative course if they filled there allocation up or you just missed out but good enough to do another course).
Unfortunately you don't always get your own local university and yes it is sometimes pure luck if people are offered there own local university, obviously staying local actually saves money as you don't have any accommodation expenses etc to fund.
You always learning from doing university interviews as like you have said you'll come back next time bit stronger than previously. Don't give up on what you want to do.
Thanks 🙏 about what you said about my own career path. Sometimes that is how life goes.... I'm from a nursing background family as my mum was a nurse ( 42 years as a qualified nurse plus 3 years as a student nurse= 45 years all in ). when she decided to take early retirement. My older sister is a qualified nurse - has been since leaving school ( currently working in Australia, been there for about 9 years now). I wasn't worried about rejection each time as I just kept trying until I got it ( luckily I was employed in a full-time job but I did go part-time when I did my middle degree).
In meantime just you keep doing the good work you do in healthcare until such time you are offered a place at university for nursing as sometimes it can take a good few attempts to get a offer.

Maybe try working as a Health Care Worker on a ward in your local hospital and then see if you can do Nurse Associate Apprenticeship. My daughter is doing this now - fees all paid by hospital plus a wage. Mandylan
