Part time job while at uni (diagnostic radiography)

Hii, Im due to start a diagnostic radiography course in September and wondered if anyone has done this course and we’re able to hold down a part time job?? I’ve been told I could possibly apply for HCA jobs to do bank shifts but I know that could be quite long hours(which I would be able to do) but is that too much to do alongside this course as I know it can be quite demanding especially when placement starts.

I have some experience in a care home and my dad knows someone who can get me doing regular shifts this summer then once placement starts it would be bank shifts xx

Hey, :wavey:

It is very possible for a healthcare student to hold down a part time job while studying.

However, due to healthcare students doing placements it can be harder for them to hold down a regular part time job as certain times of the year you will be studying at uni and on placements. Placements can also be up to 12 hour shifts.

At Canterbury Christ Church University we offer part time work for students and they can work as student ambassadors at events. This is a great opportunity for our healthcare students as they are able to pick up work as and when they want. They are not tied down to work. At these events our student ambassadors will chat to visitors about their course and experience, assist academics with activities and deliver campus tours etc. The university pays the student ambassadors a great wage for working. It also helps add experience to the students CV.

Many other universities offer work for their students which can be picked up when they need it. I would check with the university where you are starting to see if they offer this.

I hope this helps and good luck for starting Diagnostic Radiography in September!
