I want to come out of nursing, but still would like to work in healthcare

I have previously inquired about transitioning into sonography; however, I have struggled to progress to the interview stage despite five attempts. This field appears to be highly competitive. I am seeking advice on alternative career paths or advanced degrees where I can utilise my nursing degree.

Currently, I am a Band 6 Scrub Nurse, and I feel I have hit a wall in my career progression. I am feeling stuck and in need of help. Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Hey @JellyfishStingz

Sorry to hear you're feeling stuck at the moment. Have you considered applying through Clearing? Clearing offers you a chance to find a full-time undergraduate course to start this September.

You can browse the health-related courses we have available here. If you already have your results, you can apply now

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hello,

I am sorry to hear that you are struggling to develop progress in your career transition.

There are a variety of different alternative healthcare career paths and advanced degrees where you are still able to utilise your nursing degree and expertise.

Liverpool John Moores have a variety of different healthcare courses available through clearing and these might be of interest to you including MSc Public health and Specialist Community Practitioner PG Dip.

Hope this helps and good luck for the future

Aside from the uni accounts plugging their courses, what interests you? Would you want to stay in perioperative practice or do you want to move into another area? Does advanced practice interest you? Would you be happy to drop to b5 to change things or is that something you can’t do? There’s lots you can consider, but a general idea of what you’re interested in would be useful first.

I definitely do not want to stay in peri operative anymore. It’s been 7 years in that field. I am more than happy to drop to a b5 if I know I have a chance to advance later. I was thinking about a masters on midwifery, but I missed the September intake. I just feel so stuck

Would a change of scenery help? If you’re interested in midwifery a move to obs theatres for instance? It would help with a midwifery application too.
