Music teaching

Hi was just looking for some advice. I’m currently on track to study a BTEC in music performance in college and I’m feeling positive about this. I play guitar and feel really passionate about music. However I’ve also always wanted to teach in a primary school and I’m feeling really conflicted about what to do after I graduate from college. Do you guys think I should continue studying music or do a primary education degree. Which would have better job prospects?

Do you see music as a hobby or do you see it more as a career that you can do?

If a hobby then there are lots of opportunities at university where you will be able to participate in music opportunities such as in a society or even as a part of a primary education course.

If you see it as a career then you may want to go to university and studying a music degree (there are various types) and then if you still think you want a career in teaching you can become a music teacher or a primary teacher through doing a PCGE after university.
